Recovering from Abortion

Following an abortion, many women initially experience relief. The perceived crisis is over and life returns to normal. However, for many women, the crisis is not over. Months, even years later, significant issues may develop. Women who have experienced abortion may experience the following symptoms:

  • Guilt
  • Grief
  • Sense of loss
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Suicidal Thoughts
  • Difficulty bonding with their partner or children
  • Eating disorders

For those struggling with an abortion in their past, it is important to remember that you are not alone.

Post-abortion stress is real. If you or someone you know develops any of these symptoms, we offer confidential support through our post-abortion recovery program, Bridges of Hope. Whether it has been days, months or even years, many women and men are affected by their abortion(s) at some point in their life.

Women

Bridges of Hope is a 9-week group comprised of women who have experienced abortions. This is a safe and confidential environment where they can begin the healing process. The group meets two hours each week for nine weeks. Some of the topics covered include anger, guilt, depression, and forgiveness. Trained and caring facilitators assist in leading both Bridges of Hope. There is no cost to attend.

Men

For men who may be struggling with a decision that was made regarding abortion(s), Bridges of Hope also offers one-on-one support with a male facilitator. This pain can often be just as real for a man who must deal with a past abortion.
